This week, for #MeetOurVolunteers, we are featuring another one of our wonderful and dedicated ReStore volunteers, Margot.
A resident of Haverhill, MA, Margot has been volunteering with us for 8 years…but maybe more. “Who remembers the length of time when you’re having fun, right?” When not at the ReStore, Margot works with a Certified Financial Planner as her “day job”.
She found her way to us, thanks to an article in a local newspaper, talking about a women build day, which we host every May. According to Margot, “she signed up right away”. The first site she recalls was Roxanna’s house. For those of you who don’t know, Roxanna is our lovely office and family services manager, and a Habitat homeowner herself. When Margot received an email about Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity possibly opening a ReStore, she “jumped at the opportunity to help there, and traded hammering nails for banging out sales.”
Margot volunteers because she has “fun at the ReStore and likes that the money raised, stays local.” In the store, she enjoys helping shoppers and attempting to make the sales floor more inviting. Margot helps run a monthly folk music venue, the New Moon Coffeehouse, in Haverhill, which is also a nonprofit. She enjoys bringing great live music to the Merrimack Valley. When she is not volunteering her time, Margot makes delicious chocolate truffles and folds origami boxes to put the truffles in, for friends and family. Wow, aren’t they lucky!? In an ideal world, Margot wishes every person would have a safe place to live and food in their belly.
Our work, providing affordable homes to local families in need, is only possible thanks to the commitment and dedication of volunteers like Margot. As you can see, you don’t need to wear a hard-hat to help us build homes for deserving families in need.

Whether you’re an individual, small business, a corporation, a community group, a faith congregation, or just a handful of friends – every volunteer increases our impact.
