Great Bargains!  Great Cause!

The Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a discount retail outlet. Open to the public, the ReStore sells donated new and gently used building materials, appliances, furniture and home improvement items at greatly reduced prices. It’s a great way to wisely dispose of unwanted home improvement items while promoting re-use of items that may otherwise end up in landfills.  Located at 647 Andover Street in Lawrence, MA, all of the profits from ReStore are used to support Habitat for Humanity home building projects in the Merrimack Valley.  For more information about the Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity click here!

Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit homebuilder founded in 1985 by concerned local citizens who came together as volunteers. We are the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, the largest non-profit home builder in the world with a network of over 2,100 affiliates. We build simple, affordable, comfortable homes in partnership with people who need them.

Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity builds homes all year long.  To deliver on our mission and to serve the great needs for safe and affordable housing that exists in the Merrimack Valley, we rely on the generous support of the community in 3 primary ways:

1. Donate

2. Volunteer

3. Shop

Our Mission
We believe that a stable community begins with home ownership. By giving this opportunity to economically disadvantaged people in our community, we are enabling them to take control of their lives. Habitat’s ultimate goal is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness in the world by providing homeownership opportunities to those in need.

Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity is part of a global nonprofit housing ministry that works in partnership with people in need to build or renovate simple decent homes.  Habitat for Humanity is founded on the conviction that everyone should have a safe and decent place to live. Our programs bring people together – both at the community level and in the broader society (government, civil organizations, the general public, etc.) to build homes to be owned by families in the communities we serve in the Merrimack Valley.

Our Volunteers

Many of our volunteers come to us without construction experience. They come to us from all walks of life and are committed to helping our neighbors. Volunteers join us in activities that are personally rewarding and supportive to the community, from on-site skilled and unskilled labor to office and committee support.

Our Homeowners
Habitat families earn their homes. They provide between 240 and 360 of “sweat equity hours” to build their own home and other families’ homes. They also pay a reasonable monthly mortgage that is interest free. The family selection criteria include the condition of current housing, economic disadvantage, and financial responsibility.
