MV Habitat for Humanity Celebrates Volunteers

Thanksgiving came early at Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity.

On Thursday, Habitat had a chance to thank all the volunteers who have supported us… in so many ways.

It is because of our wonderful, selfless volunteers that we have been able to serve nearly 100 families since our founding in 1985.

Join us by volunteering on our board, our committees, our warehouse, our office, our Merrimack Valley ReStore and construction build sites – soon in Andover and Salisbury.

We are blessed!

ReStore Celebrates 5th Anniversary

We had great weather on Saturday for our 5th anniversary celebration. Customers enjoyed popcorn, cake and candy as they shopped for treasures. Along with our “regular” 50% and 75% off tags, we offered 25% off ALL furniture and 50% off china cabinets.

Our back lot was the stage for Let’s Make A Deal where customers negotiated their best price on furniture items while the front lot was where our DIY painting demonstration was held. A sweet little side table was transformed into a beautiful, refreshed piece with our own chalk paint.

The success of the MV ReStore can be attributed to our great staff, volunteers, donors and, of course, our customers. Merrimack Valley Habitat wouldn’t be able to do all the great things that it does for our community without all of you!

ReStore Celebrates 5 Years!

We’re super excited to announce the 5th anniversary in our location and we’d love for you to celebrate with us! Enjoy cake and popcorn, enter our raffle, see a piece of furniture get transformed, and do some treasure hunting. Not to mention that ALL FURNITURE IS 25% off (except for the pieces that are tagged as 50% or 75% off)!

Come on down on Saturday, 10/20 from 10am – 5pm and help us celebrate!

Pike School Students Learn Skills and Philanthropy

Geometry students from Pike School in Andover recently paired their math lessons with woodworking skills as they built toolboxes to donate to the Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity ReStore . Liza Waters, Secondary School Co-Advisor and Upper School Math Teacher, organized the project that was prepped and overseen by Bruce Letwin. Both Waters and Letwin sit on the Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors and are longtime volunteers for the organization.

The freshly painted and decorated toolboxes were presented to Steve Cheatham, Manager, and Joe Polenchar, Assistant Manager, of the ReStore. Proceeds from the sale of the toolboxes will benefit the community by supporting the efforts of the MV Habitat for Humanity.

A big thanks to Pike School, the students, Liza and Bruce. Great job!

Edgewood giving to the larger Merrimack Valley community by donating to the Habitat ReStore.

We are lucky to have great neighbors.

Edgewood LogoEdgewood LifeCare Community, in North Andover,  offers independent living, health care and support services.
They are dedicated to their community and also to their neighbors.

Edgewood has partnered with Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity since 2014.
When Edgewood renovates their apartment homes / cottages, they replace older design appliances with new ones –  those older design appliances are donated to the ReStore.

Earlier in the year, Paula Kelley, Director of Life Enrichment at Edgewood, said “2018 will be a great year for all of us and we look forward to our continued affiliation with MV Habitat for Humanity ReStore.”

And 2018 is looking great thanks to Edgewood.

Last week, the ReStore filled our truck with Edgewood’s donation of 8 stoves, 8 refrigerators, 3 microwaves and 2 stackable washer & dryers.

In addition to gently used appliances, Edgewood has donated sets of kitchen cabinets, bathroom sinks and vanities, and even office furniture.

“Edgewood’s commitment to The Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity ReStore is very important to us,” said Steve Cheatham, ReStore Manager.
By selling the appliances and other items, the ReStore can generate more profits which in turn supports Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity‘s mission to build safe and affordable homes in the Merrimack Valley. We can serve 22 communities of the Merrimack Valley because of the generosity of partners like Edgewood.

We are grateful.
Edgewood, THANK YOU for partnering with us and thank you for your support.
We work together to build strength, stability and self reliance through shelter in the Merrimack Valley.

Are you a business or community with gently used items to be donated? We can take them off your hands and your donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law.  We will even pick up at your location.

Building Futures – Lawrence Public Schools Arts ‘Have A Heart’ Charity Art Auction a huge success.
